My first three months as an apprentice with Clarion Solicitors
Hello, I’m Ethan! I am an Apprentice Paralegal at Clarion Solicitors in Leeds, studying a CILEx qualification (CILEx is the professional body for Chartered Legal Executives) with Damar Training. I am currently part of the firm’s Costs & Litigation Funding team. I had never intended to go to university and after completing A-Levels, I still felt that an apprenticeship would be the best option for me. I am excited to see what my apprenticeship will bring and will be writing about my experiences every month in this blog.
My current role is as a fee earner in the Court of Protection division and I am responsible for drafting short form and detailed Bills of Costs for clients, for submission to the court. My role also entails recalculating Bills assessed by the court, assisting and liaising with clients in respect of their queries and issues and aiding with any administrative duties that our matters necessitate.
Working alongside experienced lawyers has been invaluable in my development and has allowed me to establish a solid understanding of the law relating to the practice area I work in.
My ultimate ambition is to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive under the CILEx apprenticeship and to continue my legal career with Clarion.
