Congratulations to Frankie Haggerty who is our Intermediate Apprentice of the Year in our Annual Apprenticeship Awards 2017!
Find out more about Frankie from our interview below…
Why did you choose the apprenticeship route?
I saw the apprenticeship as a good opportunity to develop my skills whilst working. The idea of earning whilst learning on the job was very appealing to me.
How did you find out about the role?
Through the Forbes Solicitors website. I knew that Forbes had a good reputation and saw it as an ideal opportunity to build a career for myself.
How have you progressed in your role so far?
I have completed the intermediate level apprenticeship in business administration which allowed me to progress from an Office Assistant to an Administrative Assistant within the Housing Litigation Department at Forbes. The job role tied in nicely with the content of the apprenticeship and allowed me to develop my skills.
What are your future plans and how do you feel the training supported your development?
Upon completion of my apprenticeship, I have since been promoted into the Forbes Collect Department as a Paralegal. I hope to start my higher diploma in debt recovery over the next twelve months.
What advice would you give to other school or college leavers thinking about doing an apprenticeship?
I would definitely advise any school or college leavers to grab the opportunity with both hands, as it is such a good way to develop skills and progress within a firm. I would encourage any young person to complete an apprenticeship especially, if they have the opportunity to grow their career as I have.
Have you completed a task beyond expectation, suggested a great idea or done something which has made you stand out in a positive way?
One of my greatest achievements whilst working in Forbes Debt Collect was being able to impress a business owner, who I was asking for monies owed on behalf of a client. The business owner was so impressed with the service we were providing to our client that he himself, then brought his own business to Forbes Collect, which to date has brought 14 new matters into the department.
