I was well supported throughout my apprenticeship by my Damar trainers, Steve and Angela. I really can't praise my trainers enough and don't think I would have done as well as I did without all their help and enthusiasm. They were just amazing and were always responsive to my emails.

Accounts apprentice | Sim Trava

Jess Fletcher has recently completed her higher apprenticeship in AAT accountancy and business skills with Sim Trava, the Costa Coffee shop franchise, passing all her exams first time to achieve the title of Accounting Technician.

Prior to joining Sim Trava, Jess completed the AAT intermediate and advanced level apprenticeships at university. Upon joining the franchise, Jess was exposed to retail work, working in several of the company’s Costa Coffee shops for six months before moving to the Accounts department to complete her qualification.

On gaining experience on the shop floor, Jess says: “I gained practical experience in a few different stores including the launch of a new one which allowed me to see the growth of a store”.

Jess credits Damar in helping her succeed and complete her AAT qualification:

“I was well supported throughout my apprenticeship by my Damar trainers, Steve and Angela. It worked well to receive external training through Damar as this eased the workload of my manager. I really can’t praise my trainers enough and don’t think I would have done as well as I did without all their help and enthusiasm. They were just amazing and were always responsive to my emails. I could email them late at night and receive a reply almost immediately”.

Jess enjoyed Damar’s interactive and creative classes:

“I was never bored. Steve and Angela would adapt to the energy of the class. They were always laughing and joking which really put us all at ease. I will definitely remember their teaching methods and the skills they taught me particularly mind maps”.

Jess would fully recommend the apprenticeship route to prospective students:

“I tried university and it wasn’t for me. In comparison, I excelled in my apprenticeship purely due to the hard work of my trainers and the 1-1 support. I feel a great sense of achievement. Building a close relationship with my trainers really helped me. I’ll always recall that moment Angela called me up at work and informed me that I had passed my final assessment. We were both screaming and crying with happiness!”.
