We have been working with Mellor Primary School, an academy in Stockport since 2014, as its apprenticeship partner for the recruitment and training of Admin/Clerical and Teaching Assistants.
Mellor Primary School is essentially a village primary school set in a rural landscape with a caring family atmosphere combined with the drive and commitment of a school of excellence.

1. Why did you decide to recruit apprentices from Damar?
During the development process of employing an apprentice, Damar seemed to offer an effective package of support in terms of recruitment and training. We got in touch with the team who suggested suitable candidates that fit our needs.
2. How would you describe your current apprentice?
Our apprentice, Rachel has been nothing short of excellent. She has been able to assimilate a significant amount of admin work and enabled our admin team to work even more efficiently.
3. How have your team benefitted from recruiting apprentices?
Having apprentices has given professional opportunities to the staff that have supported, guided and mentored them. A young apprentice has brought another dimension to school dynamics which can only be a positive aspect.
4. Do you have any advice for schools who are looking to recruit apprentices?
Yes...Just do it! We have benefitted so much. As well as giving young people a great opportunity to develop and succeed, our team is stronger and enriched.
