Damar is a specialist provider of business skills training
better staff retention and
noticeably increased
productivity from Damar
students. I also believe
that employees who have
trained with Damar have
progressed in their roles
faster than would otherwise
have been the case.

Damar Employer
If your business employs (or is looking to employ) office staff then we can add value to your organisation.
Employers work with Damar because we help them to:
- Improve productivity
- Recruit bright, ambitious entry-level staff.
- Improve staff retention.
- Comply with best practice.
Most of our students are working towards apprenticeship or national vocational qualifications (NVQs) in areas such as management, team leading, business and administration, customer service, accounts and contact centre operations. Much of the training is provided on a no cost or heavily subsidised basis thanks to a contract that we have with the Learning and Skills Council.
In Greater Manchester we offer a free recruitment service to employers looking to take on entry-level office staff. All that we ask in return is that we then support your new recruit with tailored, no-cost apprenticeship training.
We also provide a range of commercial training in areas such as IT, soft skills and management.
How we work with you
Because all our customers are different, every training programme is designed to suit your requirements. Whether we are working with just one or twenty members of staff we will:
- Tailor the apprenticeship or NVQ qualification so that each employee develops skills relevant to his or her job role.
- Provide most of the training in the form of one to one visits from our assessor. Visits are at least once a month and take about two hours (additional support is available by telephone and email between visits). Day release is limited to between three and eight days per learner per course (less than a day per month).
- Enrol learners at a time to suit you – we are not restricted to the academic calendar. Most courses take between six and twelve months.
For larger employers we can create a branded apprenticeship programme for you to roll out to staff. This can then be integrated with existing in-house training, enabling employers to offer a comprehensive and cost-effective staff development package that leads to nationally recognised qualifications. If we have a group of learners with you, we may be able to deliver the seminar-based elements at your premises.
Which employees are eligible for subsidised training?
Nearly all 16-18 year olds are eligible for no-cost apprenticeship training. Heavily subsidised training is available for many older employees, particularly those with a relatively low level of prior qualifications, who want to study for apprenticeship or standalone NVQ qualifications.
