Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long will it take?

A. It depends on you. Most of our learners take between nine and fifteen months to complete their qualifications.

Q. What will I learn?

A. Working with your Damar assessor, you will improve your level of knowledge, skills and understanding in your job role and the industry that you work in. Most apprenticeships have a wide range of optional units so your qualification can be tailored to suit your needs.

Q. How much will it cost?

A. There is no direct cost to you. And you will be earning a salary at the same time.

Q. How much work will I have to do?

A. The training sessions take place at work, but you should expect to do some work in the evenings or at the weekend.

Q. Do I need a job?

A. Yes. Our courses are designed for people who are working. If you do not have a job, we can help you find one. If you have a job already, that's great – most employers are very supportive.

Q. Are there any restrictions?

A. There are some restrictions on Government funding. However, apprenticeships are available to all, and some employers will fund or part-fund the cost.

Q. Is there day release?

A. Most apprenticeships include a technical certificate, which tests your knowledge and understanding of your subject and you may also have to do key skills courses in literacy, numeracy and IT. To complete these elements of your course you will spend between three and eight days at one of our training centres and you will be given time off work to do this. Accounts students need to attend Damar more often.
