Annual "Celebrating Success" Damar Training held their annual Awards Lunch to celebrate the achievements and success of this year's trainees. Over 150 guests attended the presentation of certificates for nationally recognised qualifications gained during the last 12 months.
David Hopkins, OBE, President of Stockport Chamber of Commerce & Industry David Hopkins, OBE, President of Stockport Chamber of Commerce and Industry made the presentations and commended Damar Training for currently achieving the highest success rates in the Greater Manchester area for Apprenticeship framework achievement. That adds up to 82.2% of young people completing their NVQ qualification and all the supporting elements such as key skills.
(left) Catherine Orr, Achiever of the Year Individual awards were also presented to Catherine Orr, aged 17 from Offerton, who won The Achiever of the Year Cup for completing her Apprenticeship in business administration in just five months; and to Daniel Xie who was presented with the Mark Aspinall Memorial Award.
Daniel Xie, Winner Mark Aspinall Award Daniel, aged 21 from Withington received his award from the parents of former student Mark who sadly died of cancer just before his 30 th birthday. He was naturally delighted with the award and said; “I felt like a complete failure when l hadn't achieved my A levels after 3 years in college but Damar got me back on the right track. Without the guidance I received I'd probably still be thinking I'd be in a dead end job for the rest of my life. It was an honour and a thrill to win the Mark Aspinall Memorial Award” Champion of Learning Other awards included Champion of Learning which was presented to Linda Appleton, from Reddish Vale Technology College , Vanda Murray OBE, from Ultraframe (UK) Ltd and Anne Roberts, Salford City Council, in recognition of their outstanding work in supporting training and development in their organisations. . Champion of Learning Best Supervisor of the Year Award went to Simon Mattison of Homemover Surveyors and the Equality and Diversity Award went to Janet Marshall of the Copthorne Hotel.

Jane was keen to add her congratulations to all the winners and to Damar; “It's been a great pleasure to attend this event and see the achievement of these young people. I congratulate all the winners and Damar, their success reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.”
