Stockport-based financial solutions provider Churchwood Finance has announced its 50th successful apprentice. Bringing up the half century was Kate Rutherford who, fittingly, works in Churchwood's training team and has just completed an apprenticeship in customer service.
Churchwood Finance is a financial services company with a 10 year track record and respected reputation for working with customers to get their lives back on track and out of debt in an ethical, honest and successful way.
Churchwood works with long-established apprenticeship provider Damar Training (www.damartraining.com). Damar helps the company with the recruitment of new apprentices as well as training of both new and existing members of staff. The business benefits for Churchwood to date have included:
- Good staff retention. Over three quarters of the apprentices are still employed in the business which is excellent, particularly given the economic uncertainty of the past three years and that some of the successful apprentices started their courses nearly four years ago.
- Improved understanding of business processes – particularly important in a regulated financial services environment.
- Better motivation – apprentices report that they enjoy their courses… not the case with all staff training!
Churchwood Group CEO Paul Naden commented:
"Investing in our people is at the heart of our strategy and our commitment to supporting our staff through apprenticeships with Damar forms part of this. In our sector, high quality compliance procedures, coupled with fantastic customer service is critical. Apprenticeships help ensure that staff competence is professionally assessed and developed."
Damar's managing director, Jonathan Bourne added:
"Churchwood is one of the leading supporters of apprenticeships in the region. As well as creating new job opportunities for numerous local people, including school leavers, the company has used apprenticeships to help staff as they progress into team leading and management roles. Over the period we have worked with Churchwood we have seen strong growth in its business and I am delighted that apprentices have made a contribution to this success."
