It was a morning of nerves followed by celebration at the headquarters of Costa Coffee franchise Sim Trava, as their latest group of successful apprentices completed their final assessment. In front of a panel, including owners Simon and Tracy Vardy, they delivered a presentation detailing what they have learned and the ways in which they have applied this to achieve real business benefits. Following a question and answer session with the panel, they were rewarded with a bucks fizz lunch.
Co-owner Tracy Vardy was quick to thank Damar and congratulate her staff, commenting “Today was great. I loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be and it re-enforced what great people we have working for us.”
The innovative programme was designed to mirror internal training and performance benchmarks and was highlighted by Ofsted as an example of outstanding employer engagement. Robin Lindsay, Operations Manager at Damar, was part of the panel and explained “the fantastic success of this programme is testament to the commitment of Sim Trava to support their staff. It was wonderful to see how the learners have developed during their time on programme”.
Over the last 12 months, Damar has worked with Sim Trava to map progression routes for staff across the business so that staff have clear career paths linked to apprenticeship qualifications including customer service, accounts, business and administration and management. Similar programmes are being designed with a number of other employers. Call us to discuss how your business can benefit from a programme like this.
