Local and national law firm BPL Solicitors Limited have launched a brand new training scheme enabling students with good A levels to enter the legal profession, and ultimately qualify as a lawyer, without the need to go to university.
The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services will commence in September and last for 18 months. The scheme is being run in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) accredited study centre, Wessex Law Academy Ltd (based in Yeovil) and Damar Training, a national provider of apprenticeship training to the legal sector.
Apprentices will initially be trained to work as Case Progressors (paralegals) at the conveyancing specialist's office at Poundbury, Dorchester. Upon completion of their apprenticeships, apprentices may progress to undertake the CILEx professional qualifications and train as Chartered Legal Executives (qualified lawyers). Apprentices will be paid a competitive salary by the law firm and their initial training will be funded by the Government.
Karen Martin, HR Manager at BPL Solicitors commented:
“At BPL we have a long tradition of offering great training and development opportunities. The addition of a nationally recognised advanced apprenticeship further enhances our offer for new entrants to the legal profession. We look forward to working with Wessex Law Academy and Damar over the coming months and to seeing our talented apprentices develop into qualified paralegals and then lawyers.”
BPL Solicitors is now recruiting for suitably qualified individuals.
