What is your current role?
I am a Senior Account Manager which means I’m responsible for supporting and developing key employer accounts, largely those who are affected by the apprenticeship levy. I have a passion for developing relationships with senior decision makers and specialise in working with the NHS, local authorities and large private businesses. I enjoy working with my clients as an extension of their in-house team and work hard to ensure their core business objectives are met and delivered on time, in budget and with exemplary service.
What does your role involve?
I have been at Damar for almost three and a half years and have worked in recruitment and training since graduating from university. My role is very interesting and varied. One day, I may be writing a tender for a large piece of business with an NHS trust; the next day, I could be presenting to a group of employers about how a high quality internal development programme will benefit their business.
How do you juggle work and being a mum?
One of my greatest achievements and my main pleasure in life is being a mum. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to develop my career whilst managing my home life at the same time. The key to this is having strong relationships with my colleagues and my husband who have always encouraged me to follow my dreams. I apply the same work ethic to work as I do at home and pride myself in doing each to the best of my ability. It means that I have had to change my priorities over time but that comes easily.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I really enjoy getting under the skin of the businesses I work with. For example, I love to participate in staff inductions to understand their structure and how it all fits together. I believe this allows me to work as an extension of their in-house team. I love meeting new people and developing strong professional relationships is a rewarding part of my job.
How are you hoping to spend Mother’s Day this year?
I will have breakfast with my own mum, followed by lunch with my grandma and then dinner with my little boy.
