Reflections on my first six months as an apprentice with Greater Manchester Police

My name is Dominic Carvell and I am an Administration Support Apprentice with Greater Manchester Police. I wanted to do an apprenticeship because I spent a year at college and found that the idea of working towards a qualification whilst in full time work appealed to me a lot more. I have been completing my intermediate business administration apprenticeship at GMP for six months now and have had a very varied role up to this point.  So far, I have assisted workforce development with assessments for constable to sergeant promotions, and I have been learning what we do in my unit. I mainly do filing of associated documents but my day-to-day work also includes liaising with county and magistrate courts as well as other units across the force. During this time, I have also been involved in creating and issuing licences. My role continues to become more complex as I am now expanding my knowledge and skill set on several training courses.
