What is your job title?
Business Travel Apprentice
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
I thought it would be a good way to get my foot into the industry I wanted to work in, with the opportunity to learn as I worked. I knew that this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
What sort of activities did you do in your role whilst you were on the apprenticeship?
My day to day activities were always different, as we work based on what our clients needed. Most days would consist of making bookings, completing admin and communicating with clients and suppliers.
What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship?
Being able to progress and learn so many things, whether that be with help from a colleague, going on training courses or completing online training independently. I also enjoyed the fact it has pushed me to grow and learn outside of my comfort zone.
How was your training with Damar?
Damar Training have been really good to train with. The work set has always been clear and the training sessions always gave me the information I needed. My trainer was always very supportive and answered any questions I had. She also made me feel at ease when doing tasks outside my comfort zone such as going on an educational trip where I had to travel by myself and stay away from home.
What do you think your biggest achievement has been as an apprentice?
I think my biggest achievement has been that it has pushed me to want more. I completed an additional diploma as well as my apprenticeship and finished both with a distinction.
What do you think you contributed to your organisation during your apprenticeship?
I think I have contributed a good sense of teamwork as I was always willing to help others and take on additional tasks/work.
What are your career plans now you've finished your apprenticeship?
I am now finishing for maternity leave after finishing my apprenticeship, but I am looking to be back with the team afterwards and continuing to develop in my role as a Junior Business Travel Consultant.
