Vacancy and Application FAQs
How do I apply for an apprenticeship?
You can search and apply for apprenticeship vacancies on training provider sites, like ours, as well the government’s Find an Apprenticeship site. You can search using keywords and around your location to find the vacancies that are most suitable for you. If you’ve registered with the site or are submitting your CV, make sure that all of your details are up to date and relevant to the type of role that you’re applying for.
Can anyone do an apprenticeship?
People of all ages and educational backgrounds (including graduates) can be eligible to do an apprenticeship. The key point is that the apprenticeship must allow you to gain new knowledge, skills and behaviours that you need for your job. In addition to meeting eligibility as set out in government rules, the employer may also set criteria that they want the apprentice to meet in order to gain the role, such as having certain A-Level or GCSE grades.
Can you do two apprenticeships at once?
You cannot do two apprenticeships at the same time. This is for two reasons. Firstly, an apprenticeship is usually a full-time job of at least 30 hours a week. Secondly, it is a funded programme and you can’t be funded on two programmes at the same time.
Can graduates do apprenticeships?
Graduates can generally do an apprenticeship as long as it is in a different subject area to their degree. If you want to do an apprenticeship in the same subject area as your degree, it would have to be an apprenticeship at a post-degree level.
What jobs can you get an apprenticeship in?
There is appropriate apprenticeship training for virtually any job in any industry. Here at Damar, we specialise in legal, accounting, business, customer service, travel and management job roles.
How do I get my first job with no experience?
Entry level apprenticeships are a great stepping stone into a career for people with little or no work experience. When you fill in the application form or submit your CV, make sure that you’ve added in any wider experience you have, such as leading a project at school, babysitting, being part of a football team or dance group and anything else which shows what skills you’ve developed that you could apply in the workplace.
What time of year do apprenticeships start?
Apprenticeships start all throughout the year, not just in the summer when people are finishing school, college or university so you can apply at any time.
