Clyde & Co and Damar Training work closely together to support the paralegal apprentices. They are looking to continue to grow their apprenticeship programme with ambitious, adventurous and committed individuals to undertake recognised qualifications accredited by CILEX (The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives), whilst gaining invaluable on-the-job experience.
Clyde & Co have legal apprentices working within a range of litigation practice areas across the business, including marine, aviation, real estate, casualty and catastrophic losses and insurance. From day one, legal apprentices are involved in high-value, meaningful matters for a range of our clients.
Meet Lewis McCaffery, Paralegal Apprentice at Clyde & Co
The apprenticeship I am on has enabled me to enter a very competitive field and it has allowed me to gain invaluable experience whilst learning at the same time. The skills and knowledge that I am learning will stay with me throughout my entire career. If I hadn't been accepted for this apprenticeship, I would have had to go to university for three years and then undergo further courses to work in the legal sector. The apprenticeship has allowed me to gain the best of both options, I am learning as though I would at university whilst working at the same time, gaining experience and knowledge about my role in practice. I know that at the end of my apprenticeship I will be confident and able to fulfil my role as a paralegal. My favourite part of my apprenticeship is that I am constantly progressing. I am not expected to know things that I have never done before but at the same time I am constantly learning new skills and getting closer to becoming a competent paralegal. Another thing that I love about this apprenticeship is that we are given one day a week for off-the-job learning and it is because of this that I was able to get a distinction in my tort exam in September 2020. I have wanted to be a solicitor for a long time, and in the future I know that Clyde & Co would be the perfect place for me to achieve this. After finishing the apprenticeship I am currently on, I am hoping to be considered for the solicitor apprenticeship, after which I would continue to work as a solicitor for Clyde & Co as it is a very enjoyable place to work. Overall this apprenticeship has been an amazing experience, and it is one that I would definitely recommend to others.
