A leading independent housing organisation in the North-West is helping staff improve their skills and training after successfully piloting a new qualification.
Two housing officers from the Regenda Group, based in Bolton, have recently completed the updated Level 3 NVQ in Housing, just nine months after starting it.
Joanne Walsh, East Regional Services Manager for Regenda, said: “We are continually looking to improve the services we offer to our residents and to do that we look to develop and further the skills of our frontline staff through specialist training. We identified the Level 3 NVQ in Housing as the most suitable qualification.”
Merseyside-based HHSC Training and Consultancy Services, which works in partnership with Stockport-based Damar Training, delivered the programme to Regenda.
The partnership between HHSC and Damar was established to broaden the training offer available to employers in the housing sector. It gives employers access not only the Level 3 NVQ in Housing, but also the Advanced Apprenticeship in Housing. This is particularly valuable for employers and their staff because, as well as the NVQ, it includes the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice.
In addition, Damar can support housing sector employers with apprenticeships for a wide range of office staff, from administrators and accountants through to team leaders and managers.
Jonathan Bourne, Managing Director of Stockport-based Damar, said: “There is a wealth of opportunities for people employed in the housing sector to use apprenticeships and NVQs to increase their skills and knowledge and progress their careers. We are able to support the training of staff working in the housing sector at all levels – from entry level right through to management. Better still, government funding is available in many cases, which makes our service extremely cost effective.”
“The partnership with HHSC brings together HHSC’s specialist expertise and our breadth of experience in apprenticeships for office staff generally. The result is a one stop shop training solution for employers in the housing sector.”
